AHHD’s Top 5 Female DJ’s Coming out of Atlanta!

ATL Hip Hop Day is back with our Top Five DJ’s coming out of the City of Atlanta.. uhhh. Metro Atlanta, just in case Omeretta the Great is reading this!

We want to keep shining the light on our sisters for Women’s History Month, every week we will be dropping our Tops Females coming out of Atlanta and puttin’ on for the City.

Now there is a difference between a turntabilist and a DJ, but we not going into those differences in this blog.  We just want to shed some additional light on the ladies in Atlanta carrying the torch for the Element of DJing, one of Hip Hop’s founding elements thanks to Grandmaster Flash who actually turned the Turntable into an actual instrument with the invention of the Scratch!

I would also like to mention that these ladies are not only phenomenal DJ’s but they are also bringing value to their communities with there foundations work.

Keep in mind this list is in no particular order.

That being said, with no further a do.  Here’s who we got!

PRINCESS CUT

DJ Princess Cut has definitely carried the torch for female DJ’s in Atlanta.  She’s toured with Oprah, Ceelo Green, Goodie Mob, the Outlaws, and The Dream.  You can catch her on Hot 107.9FM and DJing at the Birthday Bash.  From working with brands from Fendi to Jimmy Choo, Victoria’s Secret to Ann Taylor, and from Adidias to PUMA to founding ScratchOutLoud a DJ School she formed to help preserve the art of DJing & Turntablism for future generations!   You can’t mention ATL DJ’s with out mentioning her.. Oh yea.. and she’s HOODRICH!!!

DJ ROOTS QUEEN

Though originally from Tampa Florida, DJ Roots Queen has been building her brand in Atlanta working with the likes of Jeezy, DJ Clue, Gucci, Mane, Sunny DIgital, Metro Boomin, Diplo, Future, Jaimie Fox, ‪Yo Gotti and more.  Roots Queen has been Djing since she was 17 and is the official DJ for Zaytoven, she has made considerable strides for Females DJs and the DJ culture as a whole!

DJ HOURGLASS

DJ Hourglass’s “Think Outside the Clock” mentality has landed her in some of Atlanta’s most notable venues since she touched down in Atlanta 8 years ago.  She’s also rocked out for events like Afropunk, A3C Festival and more.  Performing alongside the likes of DJ Greg Street, Baby Tate and has opened for Monica, Manny Fresh, and Lil Yachty.  Make sure you follow this new addition to the ATL DJ scene!

DJ BABY DREA

DJ Baby Drea the founder of HERdj, an organization created to foster the creative minds of young girls, and Georgia State alumni is one of ATL’s hottest upcoming DJs.  From her work with Bigga Rankin on Trappin From the Basement to working with labels like Def Jam to features in Rolling Out, DJ Baby Drea is just getting started!

DJ $AMO

DJ $amo, also known as DJ Samore has been making her rounds in the city building her brand.  As a Coalition DJ member, she also uses her platform to shed light on upcoming artists on her new show “The Samo Show”.   Last year you might have seen her featured as a DJ at the 14th Annual ATL Hip Hop Day Festival, so much more to come from Samo, be on the look out!

Happy Women’s History Month, we want to continue the riding the wave and sharing more of the women from Atlanta making strides in Hip Hop!
