ATLANTA, GA – As Atlanta residents continue to adhere to the shelter-in-place order to help stop the spread of the new coronavirus, cases of the virus continue to rise, schools close food sites due to coronavirus cases and Lyft offers to help deliver necessary supplies. Here’s the latest on the coronavirus response in Atlanta.
There are 2065 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 74 coronavirus-related deaths in Fulton County, as of Sunday morning, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. In Fulton County, these numbers mean there are nearly 190 positive cases of the coronavirus for every 100,000 people.
Here’s the breakdown of deaths in Fulton County by age:
- 30-39: 3 deaths
- 50-59: 5 deaths
- 60-69: 14 deaths
- 70+: 52 deaths
Governor Brian Kemp has announced that all K-12 schools in Georgia will remain closed for in-person instruction for the remainder of this school year.
Atlanta Public Schools has closed two food distribution sites after four employees who volunteered at the sites tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. MORE

Emory Healthcare has opened a drive-thru testing site for people suspected of having COVID-19 by appointment only. The site is located at a parking lot in Atlanta. In order to receive an appointment, patients must first utilize Emory’s COVID-19 screening tool and call the COVID line at 404-712-6843 for evaluation by the nursing team.
