Biggie was better overall. Jay had nothing as good as life after death when they were both alive.

The notion that every rapper is "supposed to" say or feel that they’re the best is beyond absurd????‍♂️ It’s lazy, simple-minded thinking, not to mention plain old *disingenuous* ????

For comparison, I’d seen a vintage clip of Melly Mel *qualifying* why he was the best. He says:

"And why, because I spend the most time trying to rap!  It don’t mean nothing about whether I make money or not; I’m in it for the *artform* ????
I’m not only a rapper, I’m a poet and a philosopher; because I study my TRADE to the *utmost* ???? And not only my trade, I study people and I study life to the utmost!"

MC’s during the early 80’s were honest and had depth ???????? Moreover, Mel was was arguably THE best MC during his prime ???????????? So it made sense for him to feel that way.

Fast forward to modern day tho????‍♂️…ask a rapper nowadays why he feels he’s the best and his answer is simply, "You supposed to say you da best ????????‍♂️" Again, that’s lazy, simple-minded and downright *delusional* ???? Bunch’a dumb-dumbs ????????????????‍♂️

Oh s*** do you just say Jay z got more skills than him! Oh he’s really retired. I disagree. He’s the best rapper I’ve ever heard and I’ve been involved in music ever since kindergarten. And Jay z try to be like him I did him put himself down like that and say somebody’s better than him that imitated him. He must be scared about getting a hit on his ass or something. Because you know in the Fortune 500 the worst job in the whole world is being a rap artist. If you want to die become a rap artist.

You know I we all grew up together me Jay z jazz old and all that I knew Jay Z’s father before I knew him and then I meant Jaz o but it’s not like we met we became like brothers work together at York studios. From Brooklyn to Georgia. I always kept a white sheet of paper and a pen. Cuz I always wanted his autograph. He’s the best rapper ever a good producer too. Most important he’s an originator he is the originator of all time. The originator. He’s written in stone.

He and I did a country western album together. He did the lyrics and I was the music producer and engineering recording him and we couldn’t stop laughing because he was trying to sound country ????

Stop hesitating sounding like you not the best when you are the best you need to get a dog a pitbull that will bite you every time you start sounding soft. This is me.., the original… D a m i y r. First. BI got that line from Richard Pryor.

Second. Is Jaz-O joking with the “me” line? I hope so.

Third. Brooklyn’s Finest is close but every other song that they were on together…Biggie slaughtered Jay.

    I Love The Dough
“We hit makers with acres, roll shakers in Vegas, you can’t break us…Ride and decide to crack crabs or lobsters / who says mobsters don’t prosper…”

    Young G’s.
“Man it feels to see people up on it / flipper 2ki’s in two week and didn’t flaunt it”

Big was getting nastier as Jay continued to lose bars after Reasonable Doubt. Check Big on “Victory” he was spazzing way beyond what others were doing “Anyone, Tyson, Jordan, Jackson, Action…” The Benjamin’s”, “left my East Coast girl the Bentley to twirl/ My West Coast shorty push the chrome 740.

Jay is not in Biggie lane.

Big in my humble opinion, he didn’t live long enough to grow into his fullest potential. He was only 25 when he got killed and he didn’t live long enough to see his 2 album release. Just saying

I love jay but every body caught amnesia… reasonable doubt wasn’t hot in its time honestly there was too many hot artists out wu-tang , 2 pac , mobb deep, biggie and then you had NAS .. jay z paid his way to the top .. nobody was jacking hay z at that time only a few true hip hop heads that was listening to his lyrics… my boy predicted jay would be the top rapper one day and I didn’t understand he was ahead on jay but I was too busy with NAS & biggie & wu … and we was in front of the ark in Flatbush in 1994 when jay use to perform every Sunday in their or Easter Sunday’s… jayz remember those days that was his come up days I was kid watching them come to the ark … cream Lexus.. foxy brown was running shit too da firm… and I’m talk only facts real Brooklyn shit old Brooklyn shit
    Flatbush….. heart of Brooklyn

Big did said a lot of gay shit but biggie is a better rapper than jay-z ! Remember biggie wanted to sell records, he had to make certain type of music ! Jay-z wasn’t big in the 90s until pac and biggie died ! In the 90s the top was pac and big and nas and wu tang, and snoop and qtip .. pac is better than jay-z and nas is better than jay-z too but jay-z is a great rapper though ! That my opinion

People always compare themselves to big he is the measuring stick. All I know is he came out in the best era and was the best. So my mind tells me he would be king of NY still. Jay was never called king of NY. Imo it’s Nas Raekwon Ghostface Prodigy Biggie. I don’t have Jay in the 10 top 20 yeah

BIG only has a fraction of songs compared to Jay, Pac, Nas, everyone (except Punn). I think people claiming Jay or whoever was better than BIG usually forget that fact. If we only had a handful of Jay Z songs there would be no discussion who was best.

You a typical college dude that had rapping skills. You got skills doing production too though. This is your brother speaking what’s up my n**** family. You can’t throw away family and family will never throw away you. York studios upstate New York me you and tyreke remember he came later. Had your little apartment on Bushwick avenue my brother-in-law hooked you up. When you left you took the eventide rack. I wanted to say I’m glad that you took it but I didn’t know if I was being recorded.
