My uncle lived in the same neighborhood as her family. They were FAR from poor(silver lake) and no longer live there.

So cool you guys enjoyed the doc. just as a response to a couple assumptions that were made from someone that is a fan and has followed her come up as an artist… Billie said she actually had heaps of friends growing up, since she participated in so many extra curricular activities thats where she met all sorts of different people.
Her parents/ family were substantially poor they both worked multiple jobs to make ends meet and billie and finneas have mentioned only shopping at goodwill most of their childhoods as thats all they could afford, her parents don’t actually even have a bedroom they sleep in a pull out in the lounge since their house in just a 2bed and they didn’t want to make the kids share a room.
Finneas’s band was not really successful at all, they would only do shows at school fairs community gatherings or compete in small competitions another crazy fact is that he also taught himself how to produce by playing around on the free logic download and watching youtube tutorials not professionally trained at all, just what he did with the spare time homeschooling afforded them I guess.
billies record deal came about after a free download link billie and finneas had posted went slightly viral a song (ocean eyes) they had only made as a track for her dance school to choreograph to at the request of her teacher, kinda crazy that had he not asked, none of this may have happened!
btw they still live in that house haha though finneas has now moved out as he bought a home with his girlfriend
I swear that watching a few dudes chopping it up, putting the world to rights, while smoking a joint is so damn entertaining.
