I am glad she pointed out that this issue is being promoted by black people. I’m glad she didn’t blame white people for it.

Staff of "The Real" – the title of this video is irresponsibly misleading (deceitful actually), and can cause unnecssary damage to Shekinah. Colourism is too sensitive a topic to clickbait, and a person’s reputation should not be treated with such scant regard. This has left a bad taste in my mouth about The Real. Change the title of this video.

Shekinah was a bit too real but I love her. What she said was a truth. It be your own people hating on you and that’s the saddest part. It shouldn’t matter if you caramel, brown or chocolate in skin tone if you black you black period and you’re beautiful. We gotta start praising each other rather that pitting one against the other

Shekinah’s answer to me was very ignorant. She basically tried to blame black people especially black woman for problems we did not create. The narrative of light skin girls being mistreated for being light skin is so played out.

The title of the video isn’t right.. she didn’t say she supports Spice’s decision to bleach her skin.. what she’s saying is that she supports that Spice is creating awareness about the whole colorism issue..

Spice didn’t bleach her skin. Spoke to Loni on Twitter about it & she said I should be mad about Meuller Report. LOL! I wasn’t mad & she was dismissive, condescending & thinking all viewers are American. "Real" nice. This is a show about women of colour. Colourism & bleaching is a sore topic & the headline right here goes beyond clickbaiting- it’s an outright lie.

If you are a black entertainer, more than likely your Fans are black unless you go mainstream which just means you know have a predominately white fan base. So it only makes sense they your critiques would come from black people if your fanbase are black people. Shekinah main fan base are black people so of course she will hear more from black people than any other group.

What are you saying if you’re trying to point out that black lives matter and that darker women get bullied if you lighten your skin? That’s a stupid movement the movement should be knowing you’re a queen and be black and not care I don’t get how lighten your skin for other people to accept you teaches anything but to change what you are to win? Why would you want to teach young girls that?

You know the topic and or response is too real when everyone goes silent! ???? I wish people would listen to understand more instead of half way ear husslin to get mad. It’s tragic! But anywho, I love what she said, it was real, nothing pc about it! I wish loni would chime in on these topics more but it is what it is…

Susan Kelechi Watson, Gabrielle Dennis, Tiffany Boone, Cush Jumbo and so many others could be given a platform on this show instead of ignorant ass Shekinah. I’m tired of The Real given a platform to ignorant women. It’s insulting. No one should be listening to anything this heifer has to say. She’s ignorant. Even if you could understand half of what she’s saying she inarticulate. Shekinah is a joke and everyone knows it. I can never turn on the tv and just see intelligent, thoughtful, poised black women. No, I get to see the miseducation of a black woman who is known for being stupid.

Shekinah was talking about colorism in the BLACK community. That’s why she said Jeannie might not be aware of the issue. She didn’t mean any disrespect. And for those saying that colorism exists in Asia and other parts of the world as well is it very true but the CONTEXT is very different.
