I think it’s funny how hard she was going for the curly hair with a whole straight blue wig on. We know light skins have a privilege over dark skins we also know some people deny that. Same reason for straightening hair as for the wig

Facts is facts period. Lighter skin girls always get preference. Period. You can have a beautiful dark skin woman on IG and she will only get 100 likes but the light or mix girl will get 1000. Just an example. We can say what we want it is what it is. I have made dark women cry cause I just stop and tell them Hey your gorgeous. They cry cause they don’t hear it or not told.

Also, I understand where SPICE is coming from regarding colorism, or what she calls black hypocrisy, But I don’t think she should have gotten so upset about the hot comb considering she wears wigs. Because in all honesty, the curlier/coilier hair gets in general the more care it requires. My hair is more of a wavy/curl (3b) and I permed it back in the day to not deal with the curls because it takes maintenance and there’s folks with wayyyyyy curlier hair then me so I can only imagine.

how can spice criticize people using a comb to "destress" curls but she is in a whole ass wig?? people didn’t use it to be white, they just wanted to style their hair differently. I do agree with her message colorism is absolutely disgusting.

Spice has to learn to LOVE the skin she is in and that includes ACCEPTING YOURSELF AS YOU ARE even when others don’t. We all go through our struggles. Spice lightning her skin is NOT going to take her career further. There are plenty of highly successful dark brown women and plenty of unsuccessfulg light women. I’m not here for Spices argument.

I feel they’re both right but are not really comprehending what the other one is saying and instead of trying to see each one’s point of view they just say the other is wrong. Mimi is talking about racism while spice is talking about colorism. They both are very different while very similar. Spice in a way is trying to "mock the media" but doesn’t realize she is feeding into the media’s racial perception of African Americans like mimi was saying. Mimi is thinking Spice is degrading her own race by wanting to bleach her skin and is trying to show Spice that black is proud but she doesn’t realize Spice is proud but SOCIETY has made it a point that certain hairstyles are prettier and certain skin tones as well.

Spice needs to decide if she is gonna wanna FIT IN or STAND OUT!!. She is BEAUTIFUL. Her dark skin is the most beautiful thing in the world. She should NEVER want to change it. I understand what she feels but it’s the fight against that feeling is what matters. Be proud of your skin color.

It’s easier to discuss light skin privilege in the Caribbean because it’s easier to see: the elite in the Caribbean are often mixed or light-skinned. In America, there tends to be much denial about it, but discussing colorism is a component of dismantling white supremacy.

According to Spice’s logic, she’s a hypocrite too. She wears straight weaves, does that mean she’s trying to fit into "the system" as she called it? No, it’s a hairstyle, she isn’t less black because of it. I believe colorism should be discussed, but her logic is off🤷🏾‍♀️

Every race goes through racism an if u dont think that youre in denial I’m Hispanic but look white an I went to an all Hispanic school an got treated very badly cause of my skin color but I can never talk about it bec I look white an I find that so disgusting because if y’all actually cared you’d care about every race who has gone through racism .not just your own .

Mimi is 100% wrong; people from the African Diaspora was taken to several different countries all with different social norms, so saying black is black is overly simple and 100% wrong. Mimi should take time to learn Jamaican culture around bleaching before educating someone on a culture that they do not embody.

I understand mimi and I understand spice … in America if your black as spice or brown as Mimi you would still be considered BLACK so you wouldn’t be treated special if your white As in Trump you would be considered and treated special ….In Jamaica we don’t have white people living in Jamaica so if your brown or have a lighter colour you would be treated differently

No offense but Mimi is light skin and had a baby for Stevie J, if that’s light skin privilege I don’t want it. Unfortunately I feel sorry for our light skin sisters because they attract a lot of men who are narrow minded. I rather attract the real.

Wrong Mimi, African Americans fought for African Americans to be loved. Americans is such a broad term, us black people fought for us to love us. I agree with both of them but to an extent, but light skinned women have always had it easier than more melaninated Queens.

A lot of people agree with Spice. But I think what MiMi was trying to say was that she shouldn’t be promoting skin lightening. There’s a difference between that and straightening your hair. And straight hair is not just a white people trait by the way. Colorism and all that stuff definitely exists. But what I think MiMi was saying is for her to be proud and not to not feel like she has to bleach her skin. Being teased and whatever else for being dark skinned does not mean skin bleaching is the answer. Because there is no amount of skin bleaching that will stop her from being and looking black.

Bleaching is self-hate. Straighten hair is assimilation- you can wash your hair out( if natural) or cut the hair off if relaxed.
