ATL HIP HOP DAY

The Wicker Twinz Hit The Golden Spike at ATL United Game

We are proud to announce Atlanta United FC as media partners for our 11th Annual Atlanta Hip Hop Day Festival taking place October 2nd & 3rd at Woodruff Park. We are excited about continuing this partnership with Major League Soccer’s premier team! This is your city, this is your club. We are Atlanta United FC.

The YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram sensations, The Wicker Twinz, were in the building to represent Atlanta Hip Hop Day as well as the Hip Hop community in support of our US OPEN CUP winners! The Atlanta United Vs Nashville Soccer Club game ended in a tie. The home game was a blast!! The game was kicked off with Atlanta United’s traditional Golden Spike Ceremony:

The Golden Spike is an Atlanta tradition. 90 minutes before Atlanta United take the field, the players arrive at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to sign the Golden Spike, followed by the club’s faithful fans and supporters (All are invited to sign it). Then, just minutes before the players walk out for kickoff, a select number of Atlanta United supporters march and carry the Golden Spike through the supporters section and to the platform fronting it. Join the supporters, join the movement, this is a relic signed by all, as a symbol of unity and strength. The Golden Spike is then hammered into the railroad platform by a chosen ATLien with the stadium chanting…. A-T-L with every strike, a sound ringing true to our hearts. After the final whistle, a smaller Golden Spike is awarded to a player, an honor voted on by the fans (via Twitter). In addition, he is also given one to keep as reminder of his performance, and the experience with the fans that he can cherish forever. Be early, stay late, and be part of a culture driven by tradition and rooted in the ATL.

Atlanta United announced back on April 24th at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium that it would host fans at 50% capacity for the club’s first home match. The club has since been working with local authorities and MLS to evaluate future capacity on a match-by-match basis.

Atlanta United drew 2-2 vs. Nashville SC Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in front of 40,748 fans. Marcelino Moreno and Erik López each scored to put Atlanta ahead 2-0, but a pair of second-half goals from Hany Mukhtar forced both sides to split the points.
